The North Salem Improvement Society and the North Salem Climate Smart Leadership Committee have teamed up to host three community events this weekend to encourage residents to take care of their homes, community, and the climate. On Saturday, October 16 from 10:00 a.m. until 2:00 p.m., the town groups will host an e-waste drop-off station, a roadside litter clean-up and a light bulb swap.

The e-waste drop-off station has moved to a new location at 274 Titicus Road, behind Lobdell Store at the Town Hall campus. Acceptable items include rechargeable batteries, computers, cameras, gaming devices, laptops and more. A complete list of acceptable items can be found here.

The roadside litter clean-up is designed to encourage residents to collect roadside litter before it gets buried by fall leaves. Orange bags will be available for pickup at the same location as the e-waste drop-off, and refreshments will be served. Additional bags are available by emailing

The Climate Smart Community Leadership Committee is organizing the light bulb swap. Residents may bring in their old CFL bulbs for disposal and pick up a free box of six energy efficient LED lightbulbs. The swap is limited to North Salem residents only, and light bulbs are offered on a first come, first served basis. For more information, click here.

Correction: This article has been updated from an earlier version that incorrectly said the event would end at noon. The event will end at 2:00 p.m.
