How to participate in town government the week of October 11 - 15

There are three public meetings in North Salem this week. The Town Board will meet on Tuesday, October 12 at 7:30 p.m. The North Salem Central School District Board of Education will meet Wednesday, October 13 at 7:30 p.m. The North Salem Board of Appeals will hold a public hearing Thursday, October 14 at 7:30 p.m.

Town Board meeting participants can join in-person or via Zoom. The agenda for the Planning Board meeting can be viewed here. The agenda includes resolutions to authorize a salary increase for highway personnel, to authorize compensatory time play for the planning board secretary, to authorize differential pay for the court clerk, to grant permanent status to the court clerk, as well as the authorization for various town expenses. The meeting will also include a work session to discuss a veteran’s exemption.

The agenda for the North Salem CSD Board of Education meeting can be viewed here. Agenda items include discussion of New York State School Boards Association 2021 proposed resolutions, a resolution approving budget transfers, and a resolution to approve the book, The House on Mango Street, for 9th grade English, among other items. Two public comment periods are scheduled in the agenda. The first will take place shortly after the meeting is convened, for items related to the agenda, and the second will be for items of general interest.
