It’s here, the unofficial last weekend of summer. For this holiday weekend, we extended our radius just a little bit, for those who may be looking for day trips from our area. From hot air balloons in Langrangeville to a return to renaissance times in Orange County, there’s plenty to see, do and discover this Labor Day weekend.

Go up, up and away in Lagrangeville

Bring your blankets and chairs to watch hot-air balloons ascend from the designated picnic area at the 30th annual Hudson Valley Hot Air Balloon Festival. Watch in awe as hot-air balloons fill the skies and as they light the night with an illumination moon glow with fireworks on full display. Afternoon/evening sessions are sold out, but morning sessions are still available. Tickets required.

Get in touch with your olde English side in Tuxedo

Set on a summer day in 1574 when Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth visits a beautiful 16th century English village, the iconic New York Renaissance Faire was voted “Best Renaissance Faire in the Region” for three years running. Come in costume as a King, Queen, or pirate, or come as you are. Either way, you can eat a giant turkey leg while you stroll the grounds, if that’s your thing. Tickets required.
