Putnam Lake—and the surrounding area—is about to get a little sweeter. Brewster native David Clavie-Ramos is the new owner of Uncle Louie G’s Italian Ices & Ice Cream Shop franchise in the waterfront Brewster community, responsible for managing both the store and a mobile extension that will bring the gourmet frozen treats straight to your door or party venue.

“As an entrepreneur, I was looking for an exciting business that would be perfect for someone starting their first enterprise,” said Clavie-Ramos. “[Uncle Louie G’s] is a great franchise. The ice cream is incredible; the product is really great, that speaks for itself.”

In addition to the brick-and-mortar location, Clavie-Ramos also purchased an Uncle Louie G’s mobile trailer for public or private events, such as school celebrations, birthday parties or graduations. For $250, you can hire Clavie-Ramos to bring the trailer to your party location and serve Uncle Louie G’s signature Italian ice treats for up to 70 people.

For Clavie-Ramos, who previously lived in Putnam Lake and served there as a volunteer firefighter, finding the business felt like it was meant to be.

“It’s definitely a good spot,” he said. “It’s a lake town. People are out on the lake; kids ride up on their bicycles. It’s a good spot for local kids to come and get some treats and for local kids to work.”

Grand opening festivities, including a ribbon-cutting ceremony, will take place at the shop on Sunday, August 1 at 2:00 p.m.
