How it started vs. how it's going: North Salem schools host "Senior Walk"
Led by a police escort, with a flyover by Westchester County emergency services, North Salem High School's graduating seniors took one last walk through the place where, for many of them, their education began.
Each year, Pequenakonck Elementary hosts a "Senior Walk," an opportunity for North Salem High School seniors to reflect on how far they've come and for PQ students to be inspired about how far they can go. Many of the seniors wore clothing of the colleges or universities they will attend in the fall.
Typically the event takes place through the hallways of PQ, with students lined up outside of their classrooms for the senior procession. This year, the festivities were held outside due to COVID. Students lined the front entrances of PQ under near cloudless skies, waving banners and signs, clapping and cheering for their fellow students. PQ Principal Mary Johnson and school mascot Cubby led the parade.
