Pequenakonck Elementary  students, staff and community members, with support from the PTO and Ben's Bells, on Thursday debuted a "be kind" mosaic mural on the building's exterior. The mural symbolizes community connection and support through kindness.

"Be Kind" is a central theme of PQ's social-emotional curriculum, and the core message of Ben's Bells. Ben's Bells is a nonprofit group dedicated to teaching individuals and communities about the positive impacts of intentional kindness, and to inspire people to practice kindness as a way of life.

Just before spring break, fourth grade students created the tile pieces that comprised the mosaic, which were then painted by fifth grade students. Students in grades K-3 participated in other art projects designed to enhance the mural.

The PQ PTO funded the mural, which is now prominently displayed on the exterior wall of  the gym.
