Hayfields Market is closed to the public Wednesday after an employee tested positive for covid-19. Owner Renea Dayton said that the Market will be closed for 24 hours for a complete disinfection and cleaning of the entire building and ancillary buildings. The cleaning will be conducted by JP McHale

"We will reopen tomorrow with limited services and limited employees," Dayton said, adding that all employees will be tested before returning to work. No other employees have shown symptoms to date.

Town Supervisor Warren Lucas, in a Facebook post earlier this week, said that there are 28 active covid cases in town as of Monday, February 22. While infection numbers countywide have been dropping steadily over recent weeks--infections numbers are half of what they were a month ago--the case at Hayfields is a reminder that the virus is still active and that individuals need to stay vigilant with safety precautions including masking, social distancing and regular hand washing.
